So, You Want To Write A Book...

  I often hear, “I want to write a book. What do I do next?”  Writing doesn’t come easy to some people, though they have the idea in their heads. And that’s ok!  Is it easy to write a book? Not necessarily, though  for some, it is . But writing a book doesn’t mean you type everything out and it’s all done and it’s going to magically appear on bookshelves everywhere. Writing is a process, with many drafts and  definitely editing  and proofreading. Don’t even get me started on the publishing process, which is a whole different blog post! I believe many people have good ideas for a story, but they don’t have the ability to write or even the time, and that’s where a  ghostwriter  comes in handy. If you can afford it, that is. Or you c an  just pay a   developmental editor . Whether you’re good at writing or not, if you want to write a story, I encourage you to try. Don’t get stuck on things like, “I don’t know how to write a book,” or make yourself  write  a certain amount of words per d

Book Marketing - Do You Have What It Takes?

  I love when writers get excited about becoming published authors! They have such high expectations for their book, and that’s a good thing. However, you must put in the work to get your book to become a bestseller. Even if you are published by a big publishing company, you must do some marketing yourself. My company, Get It Write Publishing Company , offers some marketing services in our packages, but I still urge my clients to do as much marketing as they can.  Get all over social media! Facebook (create an author page), Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Alignable, etc., just to name a few! And don’t just post about your book(s). Your followers will get bored. Readers want to know their favorite authors. They want to know who you are — not just see book marketing every day. Do fun posts like writing humor, reading humor, and interactive posts (get all of this on Pinterest!). Post a picture of you reading, the book you’re reading, or you on vacation. Make it personable!
